I grew up in a small, 500 person town in Northeast Nebraska and stayed in the area after college. I married my high school sweetheart and have 2 boys (7 and 3). We stayed in the area after college and I’ve been teaching elementary for 12 years.

I have been a life-time yo-yo dieter who was never happy with where my weight was and struggled with follow through. I would always work towards a goal for an event and then let myself go if there wasn’t an event coming up to work for.

I constantly belittled myself with my self-talk and I was unhappy, but would put on a happy front to other people, but I constantly worried about people’s thoughts of what I looked like, etc. The thing that impacted me the most was that I wanted to be able to feel comfortable playing and running around with the boys and I wasn’t. I knew I had to do something different.

Prior to Copper State Fit I would find a bit of success, but then be derailed and then spiral down the rabbit hole of despair and food was my coping mechanism.

I tried shakes and keto pills. Some things worked, while some didn’t make a bit of difference. Before CSF, the most success I had was with WW, but my results didn’t stick because I lost my consistency.

Copper State was different from everything else because it not only taught me about food, but also took into account everything else in my life. Talking with my coach (Dana) weekly was the ticket! I can still hear her in my mind so many times each week. CSF is not only about food, but about your well being. Taking care of your whole self. Dana didn’t just ask about food, but rather about life and how that impacts what foods you might choose and how to plan for that in your day or week. Dana is like a counselor!

I was still able to enjoy social events or go out for supper. Dana taught me how to attack my day to plan for those allowances! Dana also taught me how certain foods can impact your weight and body composition. Dana taught me so much about food.

I now know what I can and cannot eat to stay on track. I was clearly low in protein and wasn’t eating a balanced plate. Dana taught me different ways to make sure I get all the protein, fat, and carbs I need in my day. She taught me ways to change our favorite recipes so that they are healthier.

In the past, I ALWAYS had worked toward an event or a number on the scale. Dana taught me it’s not about that; it’s about being comfortable in your own skin while leading a healthy lifestyle. I’m down 25 pounds and of course have new clothes! I have a new relationship with food and how it feeds my body and soul. I’m happier with myself and know I have to give myself grace. The biggest achievement is losing my all or nothing mentality! It’s one minute, one hour, one day at a time!

I think I would still be an unhappy, yoyo dieter had I not followed a friend’s recommendation to give CSF a try. Thanks Emily!
