KELLY

I live in Huntsville, Alabama, with my husband, Darren. We’ve been married for 29 years and have two grown children who are married and live in the area.

I am active at church, where I lead a small group of 7th-grade girls. I enjoy spending time with my family (which usually involved feeding them), having coffee with friends, and watching things grow.

My journey can be described as either obsessing or neglecting, having been on the weight loss rollercoaster for most of my adult life. I’ve been successful losing weight quite a few times, only to gain it back shortly after.

I’ve tried everything including Weight-Watchers (a few times), The 17-day diet, keto, Whole30, Medifast, HCG injections, Precision Nutrition, and the list goes on and on. Usually, I found the most success with health-monitored plans with accountability, or plans which required little to no thought on my part like eating pre-packaged (less than enjoyable) “meals”.

I finally recognized that I had developed an unhealthy relationship with food due to “diet culture” and needed to do something different.

One of the biggest differences I found with Copper State FIT was the fact that nothing is off-limits! The health coaching is more than just accountability, it truly is “coaching” and my coach (Dana) was my biggest cheerleader.

After months of steady and consistent weight loss, one health goal at a time, I hit some speed bumps at the start of summer. After a family reunion, Independence Day, and a beach trip, I found myself gaining some weight back and struggling to lose it again. Once I remembered what worked for me earlier, I returned to the basics and found success again.

The slow and steady pace of this program allowed me to see how the occasional indulgence can affect my weight. With (coach) Dana’s encouragement, I learned to enjoy food in moderation and stopped beating myself up for “wrong” choices.

I used to let food control me, but I am now in control. I have learned to eat “better”, not more, not less. Now, I choose foods wisely and for the right reasons. Awareness is the key!

I have come to learn that water is important, so I make sure to drink some before my morning coffee. I also appreciate the purpose of protein and make sure to include it in every meal. Most importantly, I have learned how to make my meals work for me and how to enjoy all things in moderation.

In 11 months, I lost 43lbs, dropped over 11 inches and reduced my body fat percentage by 12%! Not only that, my cholesterol has decreased, I sleep better, and I have more energy with less joint pain.

I am much stronger and more confident and recently started leading a “gentle” fitness class in my community.

Without CSF, I would still be obsessing, or neglecting, on the weight loss rollercoaster.

This program is not a quick fix, but it works for those who want to do things differently and are willing to put in the work. You will find success if you stick with it.

DARREN

I am a 56-year-old retired FBI agent, empty-nester, and have yo-yo’ed with weight since childhood.

Prior to working with Copper State FIT, I had lost about 20 pounds but was stuck at about 205 for some time and could not find a way to drop any more weight.

My wife had been using Copper State FIT and was having great success! Naturally, I started trying to eat similarly to my wife, but had some bad habits I wasn’t focused on breaking. So, I decided to try CSF too.

With Copper State FIT, the app was helpful to keep me in focus, and the weekly accountability calls with (my coach) Dana were an effective way to keep me on track.

When I quickly progressed past the elusive 200-pound barrier, and even dropped below 190, I realized the effectiveness of the program. Now I feel much better, and I find myself making better choices regularly.

Working with CSF, I was able to break some of the old “bad” habits and replace them with “good” habits, which I will continue to focus on. Specifically, the habits that worked best for me were:

  • Drinking over 100 ounces of water per day
  • Focusing on Protein intake
  • Continuing to work out regularly

In 7 months working with Copper State FIT, I lost over 23lbs and 8% body fat, which took me to the low 180s in weight. I dropped over 8 inches from my waist and hips. This resulted in my pant size dropping from 40 to 36… and the 36s are loose! I went from X-Large shirts to Large shirts. Those haven’t fit comfortably in over 20 plus years!

Had I not decided to work with CSF, I’d still be eating more carbs than I should. I would have continued to focus on more convenient, yet less wise food options, and I would not be drinking enough water on a daily basis.
